Learn more about the Petronas Towers, the highest in the world!
|
|
Petronas is Malaysia's national petroleum corporation. Its corporate headquarters are at the Petronas Twin Towers, which were for a short while the tallest buildings on earth at 452 meters or 1,483 feet. They are still the worlds tallest free-standing towers, and it was the tallest building built in the 20th Century. It was unseated as the tallest building in the world by Taipei 101 in October 2003, see Taiwan. A great place to get an overview of the city is from the sky bridge that links the two towers at the 41st floor. This is less than half way up the 88-story building. The structure is primarily made of steel and glass with motifs based on traditional Muslim designs.
