With all of its history and scenic beauty, Mackinac Island is best known for its fudge.
Fudge is so popular with visitors that locals refer to them as "Fudgies". Fudge is made from lots of sugar with some cream, corn syrup, chocolate and nuts mixed in for good measure. That's pretty much all there is to fudge. As much as 10,000 pounds (4,500Kg) of fudge are sold on a busy summer's day! That is 16.5 pounds (7.5Kg) for every year round resident in a single day. I'm not sure, but I think that must make Mackinac Island the "Fudge Capital of the World!"
