Feng shui, the art of placement
Feng shui (pronounced fung shway) is the ancient Chinese tradition thats based on the arranging of ones surroundings to bring health, wealth, and happiness. No place is this tradition more closely followed than in Hong Kong. Feng Shui dictates for the average Hong Kong citizen everything from where to put a bed to where to locate a business. Some primary elements of Feng Shui are plants, mirrors, fountains, and live fish. Koi fish and water fountains are considered especially good for anyone in business. And, all koi are not created equal. That is why the large bright red koi on our show was valued at over $40,000.00.
In Feng Shui, all things have their appropriate place. Positive qi (pronounced chee), the basic energy of life, can be attained by appropriate placement and direction of objects and buildings. Mirrors for example placed appropriately can create very good qi according to feng shui, but one should never according to the tradition put a mirror above the head board of a bed. Living in California with its frequent earthquakes, I couldnt agree more!
